Every morning when I come to work, I walk through a commuter tunnel…
This tunnel essentially connects the train station to the part of the city I work in here in Sydney.
Every time I walk through that tunnel on the way to or from work, there are people in there handing out fliers for their business.
Now, if you’re anything like me that’s the last thing you want to come up against before your morning coffee, or when you just want to get home for the evening to relax.
In this scenario I almost always keep my headphones in, lock my eyes on something in the distance, and walk straight past the people handing out the fliers.
That is exactly what is happening when you send a generic, promotional, or flat out boring email broadcast to your email subscribers.
People are getting so many emails in their inbox that if you don’t do something a little bit different to stand out, then they are just going to want to keep walking straight past you and not read your message.
So there are 3 things you can start doing right now that will help you get better open rates on your emails. Rather than being the business that is handing out promotional fliers that end up in the next trash can around the corner.
In the video below I discuss each of these 3 tips, but here they are in short form:
- Keep it personal
- Keep it short
- Spark curiosity
